Commissions
I am available for personal or commercial hire. If you would like an original, custom-made artwork, illustration or website design, please read this page and then contact me. Alternatively, I have a listing of original art for sale if you're interested in one of my existing pieces.
What I will illustrate:
I always strive to paint each commission to the best of my ability, and relish a creative or technical challenge; for example, water, glass, metal, fire, fog, machinery, cars and vehicles, humans, monsters, mythology, animals of all kinds, surrealism, any sort of natural or man-made landscape, and action scenes.
Medium used:
Acrylic paints on acid-free matboard or illustration board are used unless requested otherwise. I often add flourishes of chalk pastel and coloured pencil where I feel they will enhance the artwork. All materials used are professional, artist-quality products, which are extremely durable and colour-fast. If properly displayed under the correct conditions (e.g. out of direct sunlight), your commission will become an heirloom item!
Price guide/ payment methods:
Prices below are for full colour paintings with a highly detailed background, including matting, registered airmail, and a signed certificate of authenticity. Feel free to enquire about other sizes or formats. Prices are for paintings with one figure/ animal. Extra figures are US $50; however, some additions such as a small animal are cheaper (or free). Clients may pay through Paypal or bank account deposit. Australian clients may also pay through cheque or money order.

Website design:
A flat US $500 fee applies for website design services. This includes a custom 29.5 x 21 cm (A4) acrylic artwork, matted and shipped to you with a certificate of authenticity, in addition to a hand-coded CSS/ HTML website layout, using the commissioned artwork as the main graphical theme. You will receive all HTML, CSS and graphic files via e-mail. Please note that artwork copyright is not included in the fee and must be purchased separately if necessary (see below).
In instances where a highly-detailed website image is required, the original painting may need to be larger than A4 in order to include all necessary detail. This will incur extra cost and clients will be suitably advised; in general, however, it is best to keep website designs simple.
I strive to make each website I create clean, uncluttered, fast-loading, and keep coding as fuss-free as possible. For an example of recently-commissioned work, please visit each-uisge.com. Please note that in this example the client desired "appearance over functionality", as this was purely a personal site, and therefore this website is slower-loading than what I would normally aim for.
The process:
Firstly, please discuss your ideas with me via e-mail. Describe the physical appearance of any figures/ characters, their posture, setting and the size of the work. The more information included, the more accurate the painting will be. If you have a deadline, please indicate this from the start.
Drawing/s will be produced from your description and e-mailed to you. You may reasonably request as many alterations to these as necessary until you are satisfied. At this stage a non-refundable deposit of 50% of the total price will be required. This covers time, research and effort to produce the initial drawings and may be paid in installments at your convenience.
When the deposit has been received, work will commence on the final artwork, and you will be regularly updated as it progresses. The estimated time of completion is three weeks depending on the size and complexity of the artwork. Very large pieces may take a month to paint; small works will take less than three weeks.
After completion, a jpg image will be e-mailed to you so you may preview the finished work. At this stage, the remainder of the commission fee will be due. As with the deposit this may be paid in installments. After payment has been finalised, the completed artwork will be matted and shipped to you.
Shipping:
Registered airmail is included in the commission fee (a courier service may be organised instead at client expense). International airmail has an expected delivery time of 3-10 business days, while within Australia the expected delivery time is a few business days.
In the event of loss or damage to an artwork while in transit, the client may choose between a full refund or replacement of the artwork.
Copyright:
Unless purchased, copyright for the artwork is retained by me (Donna Quinn) though you retain copyright to all original characters. I may upload the work to online galleries, with credit to you if necessary. You may use your artwork for personal use such as website display or printing of a personal copy. You may not use the image for commercial purposes unless copyright or printing rights have been purchased. You may purchase full copyright for US $250, or printing rights for US $150. A discount is available if purchasing copyright for multiple artworks.
